Fairfax, Virginia – As part of its commitment to serve the community, FVCbank invites and encourages community members to put on their walking shoes and join the bank in supporting Friendship Place’s 2nd Annual Friendship Walks event, beginning 10:30 a.m., Nov. 7, at the National Mall.
Friendship Walks is a 1.5-mile fun walk around the National Mall to raise awareness and funds for Friendship Place, a nonprofit organization focused on ending homelessness in the Washington, D.C., region.
“We are proud to support Friendship Place, offering the community an innovative model for addressing homelessness with effective programs to empower people,” said David Pijor, FVCbank chairman, president and CEO. “Our goal as a community bank is to serve all of our community and to help make it a better place through our service to our customers. We recognize the importance of programs like Friendship Place in making our community better by serving, supporting and inspiring those in need in a meaningful way.”
Friendship Place works with those facing homelessness to find a place to live, obtain jobs, and reconnect with friends, families, and the community.
FVCbank believes that involvement in the community through outreach, volunteerism, corporate giving and corporate responsibility can effect meaningful, long-term change.
“FVCbank has been a loyal partner of ours,” said Jean-Michel Giraud, president and CEO for Friendship Place. “Because of their generous contribution, we’re changing the lives of hundreds of families throughout the Washington, D.C., community. We assist people who are at risk of homelessness. We help people with job placement. We help connect them with family, friends and services in the community. We can create opportunities for families in need, thanks to the contributions of our partners, like FVCbank.”
